Capstone Building, Testing & Iteration
User testing, useful feedback, version tracking and the build-and-test sprint.
⌨️ Start with your 10-minute typing warm-upBy the end, you will be able to:
- Explain iteration using the clay potter at the wheel: build, user test, feedback, refine.
- Run a silent user test, watching without explaining or defending (the Zip-Lip Rule).
- Sort feedback into Fix Now, Upgrade and Ignore buckets, and accept critique calmly.
- Record at least two fixes in a Change Log.

Learn the ideas ⏱️ 35 min
Read pages 1–4 of the workbook and try every small task. Type your answers straight into the boxes: they save by themselves.
Explore the 3D lab ⏱️ 15 min
Play with the 3D model below. The 🎯 missions tell you exactly what to do next. When you finish every mission, this step ticks itself.
Do the Lab Mission ⏱️ 25 min
Page 5 is the hands-on task. Do it on a real computer, step by step. You need: your team, your v0.1 files and another team to test them.
Check yourself ⏱️ 10 min
Answer the questions on page 6 without looking back, then check your answers below.
Finished? Check your answers
This session has no questions with fixed answers. Use this guidance for the written parts.
Change Log (Page 4), Fix 1 and Fix 2: Look for: a specific problem the tester found (for example, "the total was in the chart", "the score didn't reset", "the heading was too small", "a fact in the report had no source") and a specific fix ("reselected data", "added
set [Score] to (0)", "made the heading 20 pt"). "We fixed it" is not enough.Peer Testing Evaluation Form (Page 6): Look for: an honest tick in each row, one real piece of praise and one specific, constructive suggestion. Ask testers to rewrite any comment that is unkind or vague.
Pre-Showcase Readiness Checklist (Page 5): each item should be checked on screen, not just ticked. Not every item applies to every track: for example, a Scratch game may have no formulas. Mark "not needed" rather than ticking falsely.

🎉 Session 43 complete!
Brilliant work. Next up: Session 44: Showcase Demo Day & Graduation.
Go to Session 44 →🏠 Build the Whole House
Each capstone step builds part of a 3D house: charter, prototype, testing and polish. Then practise your timed 3-minute pitch on the Demo Day stage. Saved between sessions. Follow the 🎯 missions on the right: they tell you what to do next.
Stuck? Try this
Most problems are one missed word. Look for the Panic Button or Help box in the workbook.
Refresh the page. On a very old computer it may not show 3D. The workbook still has everything you need.
Answers save on the computer you typed them on. Open the workbook on that same computer and browser.
Ask your mentor, a teacher or a friend. Show them the step number you are on.
